A court in Islamabad will indict former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case, in which he is accused of taking gifts in an illegal manner. Khan’s lawyer argued that the case be dismissed, saying the Election Commission’s petition was “non-maintainable” and the sessions court did not have the jurisdiction to hear the matter. But Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar dismissed both requests and summoned Khan in person on May 10 for the indictment. The former prime minister was disqualified in October last year after the poll panel found him guilty of unlawfully selling gifts received from foreign dignitaries and heads of state. He was accused of misusing his 2018 to 2022 premiership to buy and sell gifts worth over Rs 140 million in state possession that were received during visits abroad. Among them were seven wristwatches, six by Rolex, and the most expensive a “Master Graff limited edition” valued at 85 million Pakistani rupees, reports Geo TV.
