On 6th September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land in Jakarta for the 20th ASEAN-India Summit followed by the 18th East Asia Summit hosted by Indonesia as the current chair of ASEAN.
This will be an occasion to subtly remind ASEAN nations that India can be a reliable counterbalance to China in the region. It’s also about trade and business as India seeks to review the 2010 FTA with ASEAN. India will use this stage to advertise itself as an investment-friendly country.
