NEW DELHI: In the past month, there has been a spurt in faceoffs involving Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Sikkim and Ladakh sectors. Does it have to do with India ramping up its border infrastructure in Ladakh of late? What’s the underlying reason for the Chinese belligerence, even in sectors like Sikkim where the boundary has been demarcated? On the mat for its mishandling of the Covid-19 crisis, is China trying to reassert itself? StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale answers all these questions and more in this episode of ‘Simply Nitin’.

  1. Well articulated and presented; concise facts and less conjectures.

I would like to know if China can breach a settled fact on Sikkim, can India or should India un-settle one-china policy and should be vocal abt #Tibet #Taiwan & #Hongkong? Or should we continue to same policy of strong resolve on ground & be flexible on table? After all, we don’t want a face-off.

    Thanks for your comments.

  2. This looks to be a clear case of intrusion into Indian territory by the Chinese. What are the options from an Indian perspective? Do we have an option of pushing the chinese back here/or pay them back in the same coin where we have a tactical advantage?
