NEW DELHI: On ‘Talking Point‘, Velina Tchakarova, Geopolitical Strategist in conversation with StratNews Global Associate Editor Amitabh P. Revi.

Velina Tchakarova, who coined the term ‘Dragonbear‘ in 2015 to describe the China-Russia strategic partnership, elaborates on her analysis of the world which is “already in a context of a Cold War 2.0”. She insists most experts “who are hyperventilating about World War III are missing the big picture”. Ms Tchakarova discusses Conflict and Crises in Global Hotspots. On the Israel-Hamas War and the dangers of escalation, deepening and widening of the situation, she outlines the best and worst case scenarios. On the Russia-Ukraine War, she doesn’t foresee “the war of attrition ending before 2025-26”. Velina also analyses whether the U.S. has the capability, capacity and will to handle different conflicts, even as it enters an election year, argues that China and Russia are opening a third front in the Indo-Pacific, assesses the risks of further India-China military tension because of a “cocktail of triggers”. She also discusses the “wisdom of both leaderships” and the “hope of the necessary crisis management”, postulates a “possibility for normalisation of at least trade relations between India and Pakistan” and examines a “trend towards civilian nuclear power”.
