NEW DELHI: The Biden administration has put forth a set of proposals to give fresh impetus to the Afghan peace process. The option of withdrawing the remaining 2500 American troops from Afghanistan on May 1—a deadline set by the earlier administration—is still very much open though. One of the proposals suggested by Biden is for the United Nations to convene a meeting of the U.S., Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan and India to discuss a unified peace approach. On this edition of ‘The Gist’, StratNews Global Editor Surya Gangadharan and former chairman of National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) PS Raghavan discuss what the U.S. approach means for the other stakeholders in the region.
