‘China Would Seek Isolation Of India From Russia’

NEW DELHI: A European war with Asian consequences, that’s how author and journalist MJ Akbar defines what’s going on in Ukraine. The war has weakened Russia in Asia, with the perception of Russia’s great military strength having already taken a hit, Akbar told StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale on ‘The Gist’. And as Russia weakens, China, Russia’s so-called partner, is projecting power. So what would all this mean for India? India lacks the subtlety of China’s foreign policy, says Akbar, adding that “China’s policy towards India won’t be so crude so as to teach India a lesson but it would seek to isolate India from Russia”.
