NEW DELHI: The economic crisis in Sri Lanka may have stabilized but the road to recovery is an uphill task. India, like always, has been the first to help out its southern neighbour, with money as well as necessary aid. Pathfinders Foundation, a Sri Lankan independent think tank, was among the first to sound out the government early last year about a gathering economic storm there and the need for debt restructuring. Subsequently, it has compiled a report looking at the key areas of transformation and how India and Japan together and independently could help with Sri Lanka’s economic turnaround. On ‘The Gist’, Ambassador Bernard Goonetilleke, chairman of Pathfinder Foundation, speaks to StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale about the report and more.
