Leaving aside all the tropes about Britain’s first ethnic Asian/Indian/non-white to become prime minister, this could be Rishi Sunak‘s finest moment or depending on how he performs, his lowest.

In this conversation on The Gist, Rahul Roy Chaudhary of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, analyses the challenges before Sunak given his past performance as Chancellor of Exchequer. He also looks at the untested aspects of Rishi Sunak, namely his relative unfamiliarity with foreign and defence policy.

The India relationship has never been commented upon by Sunak, but he could push forward the bilateral FTA. It’s not clear how he would approach the broader strategic relationship with India.
